What is waterproof concrete?
Waterproof concrete is a standard concrete mix with special additives blended in. These additives fill the tiny gaps inside the concrete, stopping water from passing through. It is used for basements, cellars, swimming pools and any structure that needs to keep water out.
Which concrete grade should I use for a waterproof basement?
Most basements use FND2, C30 or C35 with waterproofing additives, depending on how deep the structure is and how much water pressure it will face. Call us and we will recommend the right grade for your project.
Is waterproof concrete the same as tanking?
No. Tanking is a separate waterproof coating or membrane applied to the surface of a structure. Waterproof concrete works from within the mix itself. Many builders use both together for extra protection on below-ground structures.
How long does waterproof concrete take to cure?
Waterproof concrete cures in the same way as standard concrete. It reaches enough strength for light use within 24 to 48 hours, but takes around 28 days to reach full strength.
Can you pump waterproof concrete into a basement or below-ground space?
Yes. Our concrete pumps, including our line pumps and 24m boom pump, can deliver waterproof concrete into basements, cellars and other hard-to-reach spaces with very little mess.
